For example\, &lsquo\;continuing bonds&rsquo\; representations of deceased people and Hollywood replicas present as being the represented person\, in a way that a gaming avatar does not. This workshop explores questions arising from avatar/human representation: around the nature and limits of avatar representation\, avatar ownership\, responsibility for avatar&rsquo\;s actions and the potential impact of increased avatar representation in society.
\n\n
We invite papers from those working in diverse disciplines. However\, we are particularly interested in research that is philosophical in nature.
\n\n
Additional Information
\n
The workshop will feature both invited speakers and presentations selected from responses to this call. Refreshments and lunch will be provided for all participants\, as will a workshop dinner on the 2nd March. We have two Early Career bursaries to cover travel within the EU and two nights&rsquo\; accommodation\, and may have some funds to assist non-early-career scholars requiring financial assistance. If you consider yourself to be an early career scholar please indicate so in your cover email and explain why you consider yourself to be so.
\n\n
The University of Aberdeen is 20 minutes car or bus ride from Aberdeen International Airport.
\n\n
If you have any questions please contact the organiser Paula Sweeney at philosophyofavatars@gmail.com.
\n
