DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for Papers</strong></p>\n<p>A thematic issue of&nbsp\;<em>Teorie vědy /&nbsp\;Theory&nbsp\;of Science</em>:&nbsp\;<strong>AI in&nbsp\;Science: Lessons from the Ongoing Revolution</strong>.</p>\n<p>The current rapid advances in Artifical Intelligence (particularly in LLMs) hold enormous promise for the sciences\, ushering in a deep and potentially paradigmatic change.&nbsp\;AI will impact existing methods and practices\, and will also transform the ways in which&nbsp\;scientists&nbsp\;and philosophers view and understand&nbsp\;scientific&nbsp\;reasoning and explanations\, hypothesis generation and testing\, interpretability and explainability of results\, and so forth.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>We invite authors to critically reflect on these changes from scientific\, philosophical or interdisciplinary perspectives with contributions on topics such as:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unique opportunities and wider implications associated with AI deployment in concrete scientific fields of natural or social sciences and humanities\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Effects of AI on the traditional scientific process\, and the ways in which new AI-driven methodologies will&nbsp\;reshape scientific work and practices\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Benefits and challenges of&nbsp\;human-AI collaboration in science including potential risks (overreliance\, alignment etc.)\;</li>\n<li>Other topics at the intersection of AI\, philosophy\, or cognitive sciences broadly conceived.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>To accommodate the dynamics of the field\, we suggest two possible formats for your contributions:&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Essays for immediate publication (non-peer reviewed) &ndash\;</strong>These texts will not be subjected to the standard peer review process and will only be evaluated by the&nbsp\;<em>Teorie vědy /&nbsp\;Theory&nbsp\;of&nbsp\;Science&nbsp\;</em>editorial team who will also decide on their acceptance and publication on the journal&rsquo\;s website. Any subsequent use of these papers for the journal&nbsp\;in its electronic and printed form will be negotiated individually with the authors.</p>\n<p><strong>Standard articles (peer-reviewed)</strong>&nbsp\;&ndash\;&nbsp\;Original research\, thematic\, survey\, or review articles\, which will undergo a standard peer-review process as described in&nbsp\;<a href="../index.php/tv/about/editorialPolicies#peerReviewProcess">Peer Review Process</a>.</p>\n<p>The deadline for your submissions is&nbsp\;<strong>August 30\, 2024</strong>.</p>\n<p>We look forward to receiving your contributions (in Czech or English language).</p>\n<p>If you have any additional questions\, please reach out to&nbsp\;<a target="_blank">teorievedy@flu.cas.cz</a>.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Petr Jedlička\, guest editor</p>
