DESCRIPTION:<p>The phlox research group and the Emmy Noether Group Relevance are delighted to announce that the 2024 Hamburg/Vienna Summer School will be taught by Ted Sider (Rutgers). This year's topic will be *Fundamentality in Metaphysics and Philosophy of Science*.<br><br>*Description*<br><br>The course will explore connections between metaphysical issues about fundamentality\, and the philosophy of physics. We'll begin with a survey of the metaphysical issues\, concentrating on David Lewis&rsquo\;s theory of natural properties. Then we'll discuss some of the following topics: laws of nature\, the structure of space\, symmetries\, structural realism\, and the role of mathematics in physical theories.<br><br>The course will take place from Monday\, July 15th to Friday\, July 19th 2024 at the University of Vienna.
