DESCRIPTION:<p>OVERVIEW: This day-long program will provide an intensive introduction to ethical and practical issues that arise in contemporary healthcare practice. Aimed at providing healthcare professionals with a basic\, but substantive overview of the ethical and social frameworks needed to identify\, understand\, and address ethical challenges&nbsp\; within their institutions and practices\, this program will examine common methods and central topics in healthcare ethics through lectures and case-based discussion. Topics considered will include informed consent\, decision-making capacity\, surrogate decision making\, end-of-life care\, and the importance of culturally congruent care.</p>\n<p>AUDIENCE: This workshop is aimed at all healthcare professionals\, students and instructors in the health professions the health humanities\, members of hospital ethics committees\, and any person who has a special interest in healthcare ethics.<br><br>COST: $180 (includes full conference\, light breakfast\, and lunch)</p>
