DESCRIPTION:<p>CALL FOR PAPERS</p>\n<p>HOUSTON BAPTIST UNIVERSITY</p>\n<p>FOURTH ANNUALPHILOSOPHY CONFERENCE</p>\n<p>RELIGION\, SCIENCE AND THE INTELLECTUAL VIRTUES</p>\n<p>APRIL 4-5\, 2014</p>\n<p>Keynote Speaker<a name="_GoBack"></a>: Dr. Jay Wood (Wheaton College)</p>\n<p>The Department of Philosophy at HBU invites papers addressing the relationships between religion\, science\, and the intellectual virtues.&nbsp\; We welcome papers that deal with faith and science\, philosophy of science\, virtue epistemology\, philosophy of religion and other issues in epistemology.&nbsp\; In addition\, we will happily consider papers on any philosophical topic.&nbsp\; The Department of Philosophy at HBU encourages papers from both analytic and continental traditions.</p>\n<p>To submit a paper\, please send an abstract of around 300 words to Dr. Russ Hemati at <strong>rhemati@hbu.edu</strong>&nbsp\; Participants will have 30 minutes to present their papers.</p>\n<p>The deadline for submission is <strong>February 7</strong>\, with notification of acceptance by February 14.</p>\n<p>In an effort to support excellence in undergraduate philosophy education\, some sessions have been reserved for undergraduate paper submissions.&nbsp\; Undergraduate students are encouraged to apply by sending a completed paper by <strong>February 7</strong> to <strong>rhemati@hbu.edu</strong>&nbsp\; We are happy to announce that a stipend of <strong>$250</strong> will be available for the best undergraduate paper submitted.&nbsp\; Please indicate in your submission that you would like to be considered for this award.&nbsp\; HBU students are not eligible for this award.</p>\n<p>Dr. Jay Wood will present his paper\, titled &ldquo\;How is Your Intellectual Appetite?&rdquo\; on Friday\, April 4 at 7:30 pm. Dr. Wood will present &ldquo\;Intellectual Humility and Scientific Inquiry\,&rdquo\; on Saturday\, April 5 at 11:30 am.&nbsp\; Both talks will be in Cullen Parlor on the campus of Houston Baptist University.</p>\n<p>For further information on the conference and registration\, see <a href="http://www.hbu.edu/philosophyconference">www.hbu.edu/philosophyconference</a></p>
