DESCRIPTION:<p>SILFS 2014 <strong>Triennial International Conference </strong> <strong>of the Italian Society for Logic and Philosophy of Sciences</strong></p>\n<p>SILFS\, the Italian Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science (<a href="http://www.silfs.net/"><u>www.silfs.net</u></a>) will hold on June 18-20\, 2014 its Conference at the University of Rome &ldquo\;Roma TRE&rdquo\;.</p>\n<p>In addition to several parallel session for contributed papers\, there will be three invited speakers and two invited lectures by recent PhD students. The general assembly of the SILFS will also elect the new president and executive committee of the society.</p>\n<p><strong>Venue</strong></p>\n<p>University of Rome &ldquo\;&lsquo\;Roma TRE&rdquo\;&lsquo\;\, Via Ostiense 234\, 00144\, Rome.</p>\n<p><strong>Invited speakers</strong></p>\n<p>John Norton (University of Pittsburgh)</p>\n<p>Hannes Leitgeb (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit&auml\;t M&uuml\;nchen)</p>\n<p>Tarja Knuuttila (University of Helsinki)</p>\n<p><strong>Special session &ndash\; lectures by the two winners of the SILFS prize for the best doctoral thesis 2011-2013:</strong></p>\n<p>Stefano Giaimo\, awarded for his PhD Thesis &rdquo\;The Pleiotropic Theory of Ageing&rdquo\;</p>\n<p>Claudio Mazzola\, awarded for his PhD Thesis &rdquo\;Temporal Becoming and the Algebra of Time&rdquo\;</p>\n<p><strong>Submissions</strong></p>\n<p>We invite submissions in all areas of logic and philosophy of science\, with special attention to inter-disciplinary approaches to logical and epistemological issues and topics in the foundations of special sciences (both natural\, social and human).</p>\n<p>Every contributed speaker will have 30 minutes\, including discussion. The official language of the conference is English.</p>\n<p>Potential contributors will have to submit a title and an abstract (max 6000 characters) prepared for blind refereeing.
