SUMMARY:Workshop "Leave no one behind - who is affected by current AI development\, governance\, standardization and regulation processes?"
UID:20260415T185034Z-iCalPlugin-Grails@philevents-web-f5d4878dd-x5n6c
TZID:Europe/Berlin
LOCATION:Konrad-Zuse-Platz 1-3\, Bonn\, Germany
DESCRIPTION:
As part of the new legislative framework\, the European AI Act will take care
of technological innovations and details through the use of (harmonized)
standards. However\, as has been repeatedly observed\, in standardization\, there
is a lack of participation of stakeholders from civil society. With this
workshop\, we intend to approach this issue from different disciplinary angles
to discover how overlooked groups and groups that usually do not have a
prominent voice in standardization can be included. We are broadening this
inquiry to AI governance\, regulation\, and AI development in general. Our
questions range from sustainability questions\, environmental inequality\, AI
and education\, AI and children&rsquo\;s rights\, and how fundamental rights impacts
can be assessed to critical theory and fairness.

The keynote\, "Technoliberalism"\, will be given by Neda Atanasoki (University
of Maryland College Park) and Kalindi Vora (Yale University)\, who are
currently Mercator Visiting Professors at the Center for Science and Thought.

The workshop is part of the Zertifizierte KI project. It aims to address two
issues: On the one hand\, we want to discuss which stakeholders are (easily)
overlooked in standardization\, AI governance\, AI development\, and current
legislative processes\, e.g.\, the European AI Act. On the other hand\, we intend
to get feedback on our work in the Zertifizierte KI project\, which aims to
formulate operationalizable minimal ethical requirements for certifying
trustworthy AI applications.

The two-day workshop will take place at the Center for Science and Thought of
the University of Bonn\, which is beautifully located on the Rhine. Those who
cannot attend in person can join online (via Zoom).

The event is part of the KI.NRW Flagship-Project "Zertifizierte KI" (Certified
AI).
