DESCRIPTION:<p>We are delighted to announce the second annual meeting of the&nbsp\;<em>Hopkins Seminar in Medieval and Early Modern Philosophy</em>\, scheduled to take place at the Homewood Campus of Johns Hopkins University\, Baltimore\, on December 8th-9th\, 2024.<br> <br> Like similar seminars\,&nbsp\;HSMEMP&nbsp\;is an informal group\, formed to foster the exchange of ideas among scholars of medieval and early modern philosophy (roughly\, 400-1780 CE). We will accept abstracts of papers focusing solely on early modern philosophy or solely on medieval philosophy\, though we encourage submission of abstracts exploring issues covering both periods.&nbsp\;<em>We also strongly encourage submission of abstracts on women philosophers and on non-European philosophy (Jewish\, Islamic\, Chinese\, African\, Indian etc.) from these periods</em>. We are likely to have one of our sessions in a hybrid form using Zoom.</p>\n<p>Please submit anonymized abstracts (up to 1 page long) as an email attachment\, sent to&nbsp\;<a href="mailto:connolly@jhu.edu">connolly@jhu.edu</a>&nbsp\;. Include your name in your email\, and the last 5 digits of your phone number on both the email and your abstract. If you would like to present your paper on Zoom\, please indicate that.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;For further inquiries\, please email&nbsp\;<a href="mailto:ymelame1@jhu.edu">ymelame1@jhu.edu</a><br> <br> Abstract submission deadline:<strong>&nbsp\;October 1st\, 2024</strong>.</p>\n<p>Invited speakers:&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Michael Della Rocca (Yale) and Hashem Morvarid (Johns Hopkins)&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The organizers will aim to make available the program\, along with further information\, by October 15th\, 2024.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; The organizers will make a serious effort to cover at least part&nbsp\;of the travel and accommodation expenses for graduate students/recent Ph.D.s&nbsp\;&nbsp\;whose papers are accepted for presentation.</p>\n<p><br> The Seminar is supported be generous grants from the William H. Miller III Department of Philosophy and the Singleton Center for the Study of Premodern Europe at Johns Hopkins University.</p>
