DESCRIPTION:
Dear Colleagues\,
\n\n
We invite submissions for a workshop to be held at the Center for Subjectivity Research\, University of Copenhagen\, 24-25 April 2025.
\n\n
Theme
\n
Although collective memory has been predominantly studied in the field of humanities\, the topic has lately received increased attention from psychologists\, particularly in relation to the link between collective memory and processes of conversational remembering. Empirical research found that the relationship between interaction partners\, and whether they perceive each other as members of the same social group\, may influence how they remember (and forget) the past. This line of research opens up a space for philosophical inquiry about the role different aspects of intersubjectivity\, such as intercorporeality\, empathy\, sympathy\, emotional sharing and identification play in collective memory formation.
\n\n
We welcome submissions from all traditions\, but those that draw on classical phenomenological philosophy in dialogue with psychological literature will be prioritised.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n\n
Confirmed keynote speakers
\n
John Sutton (Macquarie University /University of Stirling)
\n
Marta Carav&agrave\; (Purdue University)
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Format
\n
In-person
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Submission guidelines
\n
Abstracts of no more than 500 words\, prepared for blind review\, should be submitted in PDF format to dgyo@hum.ku.dk with the subject heading &lsquo\;Intersubjectivity and Collective Memory&rsquo\; by 15 October 2024.
