DESCRIPTION:<p><br>The Philosophy Department at the University of Durham\, in association with<br>the Institute for Advanced Study\, is pleased to announce a two-day\, inter-<br>disciplinary workshop\, including master-classes\, artist talks\, paper<br>presentations and moderated discussion\, on the theme of &lsquo\;Perceiving the<br>Light: Shadow\, Image\, Transparency&lsquo\;.</p>\n<p>The goal of the workshop is to generate discussion on a range of visual<br>ephemera that remain under-theorised in contemporary philosophy of<br>perception &ndash\; for instance\, shadows\, rainbows and reflections\; the re-<br>presentation of such items in art and photography\; and on the nature of<br>appearances and images more generally.</p>\n<p>A set of master-classes will be led by Andy Hamilton (Philosophy\, Durham)\,<br>Thomas Crowther (Philosophy\, Warwick) and Bob Kentridge (Psychology\,<br>Durham).</p>\n<p>For details please visit the workshop blogspot:<br><a href="http://shadowimagetransparency.wordpress.com/">http://shadowimagetransparency.wordpress.com/</a></p>\n<p>Confirmed speakers:<br>M.G.F.
