DESCRIPTION:<p>The "Descartes Laboratory"&nbsp\;seminar is an online a branch of the &ldquo\;Seminari Cartesiani di Villa Mirafiori&rdquo\;\, organized by the Institute for the european intellectual lexicon and history of ideas (Cnr-Iliesi) and La Sapienza Department of Philosophy\, and directed by Claudio Buccolini\, Antonella Del Prete\, Francesco Fronterotta and Enrico Pasini.</p>\n<p>The "Descartes Laboratory" is directed by Fabrizio Baldassarri&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;Simone Guidi\, and it is planned to engage with the most recent works on Descartes as well as on 17th-century philosophy and natural philosophy connected with Cartesianism. The Laboratory involves master and graduate students\, as well as young post-doc\, giving them a space for discussion\, which is of course open to anyone who would like to intervene.</p>\n<p>The 24-25 programme includes three meetings on October 7\, 2024\; February 17\, and May 16\, 2025: the event is in English\, online and available at the&nbsp\;"Descartes Laboratory"&nbsp\;Seminar Scheduling 2024-2025.</p>\n<p>Link to access the seminar (Microsoft Teams):&nbsp\;https://bit.ly/descartes-laboratory</p>\n<p>The first meeting is scheduled&nbsp\;on October 7\, 2024\, at 3 pm CET&nbsp\;(Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time)\, with the presentation of Rapha&euml\;le Andrault&rsquo\;s latest book\,&nbsp\;<em>Le fer ou le feu. Penser la douleur apr&egrave\;s Descartes</em>&nbsp\;(Garnier 2024). Discussants will be Raffaele Putignano and M&eacute\;lanie Zappulla\, and Rapha&euml\;le&nbsp\;Andrault will respond to comments.</p>\n<p>The second meeting is scheduled&nbsp\;on February 17\, 2025\, at 3 pm CET&nbsp\;(Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time)\, with the presentation of Tarek Dika's latest book\,&nbsp\;<em>Descartes&rsquo\;s Method: The Formation of the Subject of Science</em>&nbsp\;(OUP\, 2023). Discussants will be&nbsp\;Iacopo Chiaravalli and Rapha&euml\;le Garrod. Tarek Dika will respond to comments.</p>\n<p>The third meeting is scheduled&nbsp\;on May 16\, 2025\, at 5 pm CET&nbsp\;(Rome/Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam time)\, with the presentation of Melissa Lo's latest book\,&nbsp\;<em>Skepticism&rsquo\;s Pictures: Figuring Descartes&rsquo\;s Natural Philosophy</em>&nbsp\;(Penn State UP\, 2023).&nbsp\;Discussants will be&nbsp\;Delp&egrave\;hine Bellis and Christoph Sander.&nbsp\;Melissa Lo will respond to comments.</p>
