DESCRIPTION:<p>The Extending New Narratives in the History of Philosophy (ENN) project invites proposals for papers on neglected figures or themes in the history of moral\, social\, and political philosophy\, to be presented at a workshop to be held at McGill University June 6-8\, 2025.</p>\n<p>The aim of the ENN project is to develop new narratives in the history of philosophy\, by recovering the work of women and other neglected figures\, as well as neglected themes and debates of some interest or importance.</p>\n<p>The workshop will include:</p>\n<p>Keynote speakers:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sabrina Ebbersmeyer</li>\n<li>Alessandro Mulieri</li>\n</ul>\n<p>A panel on methodological challenges in recovering the thought of ancient women philosophers\, with:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sara Brill</li>\n<li>Isabelle Chouinard</li>\n<li>Katharine O&rsquo\;Reilly</li>\n<li>Ann Pang-White</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We invite proposals on neglected figures\, themes\, or debates connected to the history of moral\, social\, and political philosophy in any period from antiquity to the early twentieth century. We would be especially interested in proposals that address:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Methodological issues confronted in recovering unrecognized work</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>Issues of genre and the scope of moral\, social\, and political philosophy</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>Suggestions for reconfiguring or expanding accounts of the history of philosophy</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Submission instructions: please email an abstract (300-500 words) and a short CV to Marguerite.Deslauriers[at]mcgill.ca by <strong>15 December 2024</strong>.</p>\n<p>Scientific committee: Geneviève Barrette\, Marguerite Deslauriers\, Louis Doulas\, Ariel Melamedoff\, Grégoire René\, Lisa Shapiro\, Hasana Sharp\, Natalia Zorrilla</p>\n<p>This seminar is a part of the Extending New Narratives in the History of Philosophy Partnership project\, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and partner institutions. In December 2024\, the workshop will be preceded by a smaller ENN seminar on ethical\, social\, and political philosophy at partner institution Monash University. Participants in that seminar are welcome to submit proposals for the workshop at McGill.</p>\n<p>We welcome submissions in French or English\; the workshop will be bilingual\, with informal translation provided for those who require it. Submissions from early career researchers and advanced PhD students are especially encouraged. Funding for travel and accommodation will be provided for 6-8 authors of accepted submissions.</p>
