DESCRIPTION:<p>The upcoming ECPR Joint Sessions in&nbsp\;<strong>Prague\, 20-23 May 2025</strong>\, include a workshop on the&nbsp\;<strong>Political Theory of Democratic Elections.</strong></p>\n<p>The workshop specifically solicits papers on the following topics:</p>\n<p>1: Elections and the justification of democracy<br>2: Electoral democracy in ideal\, non-ideal and highly-non-ideal theory<br>3: The design of democratic elections and electoral innovations<br>4: Democratic alternatives/supplements to elections&nbsp\;<br>5: The differences between democratic and undemocratic elections<br>6: Electoral integrity</p>\n<p>7: Electoral democracy\, oligarchy\, and democratic backsliding</p>\n<p>8: The ethics of voting\, standing\, and campaigning&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>To view the full CFP and submit an abstract\, please consult this webpage:&nbsp\;https://ecpr.eu/Events/Event/WorkshopDetails/15659</p>\n<p>Unlike other conferences\, the ECPR Joint Sessions are designed as a series of closed\, pre-read workshops. Attendants are excepted to attend all sessions and to engage in the discussion of all papers within their workshop. This makes for extraordinarily productive meetings and exchanges. This year the Joint Sessions do not support the hybrid format. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Please note that&nbsp\;<strong>abstracts</strong>&nbsp\;can only be submitted&nbsp\;<strong>via the ECPR&rsquo\;s web site</strong>\, and that the&nbsp\;<strong>deadline for submissions is 21 November 2024</strong>.</p>\n<p><br>Funding to cover the registration fee\, travel and accommodation costs is available through the ECPR's 'Event Participation Grant' and the '50th Anniversary Fund'.
