\nTheme: Modernity &\; the Self: On the Status of Human Experience in Contemporary Society
\nKeynote Speaker: Dr. Stephanie Rivera Berruz\, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Marquette University
\nDate: April 4th\, 2025
\nHow does a McDonalds cheeseburger stack up to magic mushrooms in consideration of mind-altering substances? How do Indonesian and Guatemalan teenagers become friends by discussing Japanese cartoons without ever coming within a thousand miles of each other? What are the implications of such questions for culture\, belief\, and personal identity? The conference theme engages with the concept of self\, self-perception\, personhood\, and experience in contemporary society. This includes considerations of culture\, technology\, ethics\, religion\, philosophy of mind\, humanism\, and phenomenology. General philosophy submissions are also welcome.
