DESCRIPTION:
The 22nd&nbsp\;annual summer meeting of the&nbsp\;International Society for Environmental Ethics (ISEE)&nbsp\;will convene Sunday\, June 8 to Thursday\, June 12\, 2025 at the University of Montana\, Missoula\, MT
\n
CFP webpage found here:&nbsp\;https://iseethics.wordpress.com/2024/12/02/isee-22nd-annual-summer-meeting-june-9-12-2025-cfp/&nbsp\;
\n
Individual Proposals
\n
This call for papers invites 500-word (maximum) proposals for presentations of papers on any topic in environmental philosophy. References are not included in the word count.&nbsp\;
\n
To encourage engagement and feedback\, ISEE asks that full paper drafts be available for attendees to pre-read by May 17. Conference sessions will then consist of a summary presentation of your paper\, commentary by another attendee\, and group Q+A.&nbsp\;
\n
ISEE encourages proposals from scholars at all stages of their careers\, especially graduate students\, and seeks to broaden the field of environmental philosophy to encompass perspectives traditionally underrepresented or marginalized in the field.
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Panel Proposals
\n
We are also accepting proposals for panel discussions. This is a great opportunity for colleagues (from graduate students to senior faculty) working on overlapping topics to constructively bring their works-in-progress together for a broader discussion.&nbsp\;
\n
These hour-long sessions can include 3-4 shorter presentations on a related theme. There will be no commentators for these sessions\, with more time dedicated to group Q+A. Please submit a brief description of the panel topic (300-word)\, along with shorter abstracts of each presentation (~200 words).&nbsp\;
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Keynotes and Special Events
\n
&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Dr. Deborah McGregor&nbsp\;will provide the opening keynote\, sharing her current work in indigenous environmental justice.
\n
&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Dr. Andrew Light&nbsp\;will provide two talks: an evening public event in honor of UM philosopher&nbsp\;Albert Borgmann&nbsp\;and a conference talk on his own work as Assistant Secretary of Energy for International Affairs.
\n
&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;The Payne Family Native American Center&nbsp\;will host a lunch and lecture on UM&rsquo\;s groundbreaking Native American Studies department.&nbsp\;
\n
&middot\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Guided&nbsp\;Field Trip&nbsp\;opportunities will explore restoration projects around Missoula\, including the&nbsp\;Milltown Reservoir Superfund Site&nbsp\;and the&nbsp\;CSKT Bison Range.
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Submission Instructions
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Submitted via email to&nbsp\;2025ISEE@gmail.com
\n
Due: January 11\, 2025
\n
Please attach an abstract for&nbsp\;anonymous review&nbsp\;in .word or .pdf format.&nbsp\;
\n
Decisions announced by March 1\, 2025&nbsp\;
\n
Draft papers for pre-read by conference participants will be due May 17\, 2025.
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
Commentators and Chairs
\n
We highly encourage all meeting attendees to participate by presenting\, commenting on a paper\, or chairing a session.
\n
&nbsp\;
\n
If you wish to attend the meeting and serve as a commentator or session chair\, but do not plan to submit a paper\, please send a brief email to&nbsp\;2025ISEE@gmail.com&nbsp\;by January 11.&nbsp\;
