DESCRIPTION:<p>The Royal Institute of Philosophy is pleased to announce that Randall Curren\, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Rochester\, has been appointed the first Professor of the Royal Institute of Philosophy.&nbsp\; Professor Curren is well known for his writings on Aristotle\, ethics\, and education.&nbsp\; To inaugurate his professorship\, the Royal Institute will hold a half day conference on topics relevant to his interests\, at which Professor Curren himself will give a paper.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>The conference will be held on <strong>Friday\, January the 24th&nbsp\;2014</strong>\, at Dr. Williams&rsquo\;s Library\, 14 Gordon Square\, London WC1H 0AR\, from 2 pm.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n\n<p>The programme for the meeting will be:</p>\n<p><strong>2-3.30 James Garvey\, &lsquo\;What gets in the way of education for sustainable development?&rsquo\;</strong> </p>\n\n<p><strong>4-5.30 Anthony O&rsquo\;Hear\,&nbsp\; &lsquo\;To have masters in village schools/To teach &lsquo\;em classics and not hog-wash&rsquo\;</strong></p>\n\n\n<p><strong>6-7.30 Randall Curren\, &lsquo\;Meaning\, Motivation\, and the Good&rsquo\;</strong></p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>This conference is free and open to everyone\, but places are limited.&nbsp\; To reserve a place\, email <a target="_blank">j.garvey@royalinstitutephilosophy.org</a></p>\n<p><a target="_blank">There are further details and abstracts right here:</a></p>
