DESCRIPTION:<p>6th Annual COVE Graduate Ethics Conference</p>\n<p>Emerging Issues in Contemporary Ethics and Moral Theory</p>\n<p>If moral philosophy is to properly function as a field that contributes to the improvement of aspects of human society and living\, it must adapt and appreciate new challenges while looking forward and anticipating emerging issues. These new challenges emerge from changes in policy\, the activities of private entities\, technological and economic development\, developments in moral theory\, conflicts in culture\, etc. each highlighting different values and the differences between competing approaches to ethics. Keeping up with these issues is an important prerogative for moral philosophers\, as moral assessment is too often done in hindsight after a morally unacceptable situation has already come about. The running dialogue in ethics and moral philosophy plays a key role in anticipating\, analyzing\, and meeting these ethical challenges as they emerge.</p>\n<p>The 6th Annual COVE Graduate Ethics Conference is seeking to contribute to this dialogue by bringing together researchers from all philosophical subfields related to ethics and value theory and highlight some contemporary moral challenges and new reflections on more classical problems in moral philosophy. All papers related to ethics\, normative philosophy and metaethics will be considered.</p>\n<p>Submit abstracts by: February 10\, 2014.</p>\n<p>Paper submission by: March 10\, 2014.</p>\n<p>Submit abstracts to: ben.trainor@carleton.ca</p>
