DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>The Annual Lectures in Culture and Technology at Northeastern University London</strong></p>\n<p>In this annual lecture\, world-leading experts will explore philosophical topics at the intersection of humanities\, natural and social sciences\, technology\, and public discourse. The lectures are representative of the kind of boundary-crossing\, applied approach that is at the heart of the humanities at NU London. Aimed at the general public\, the lectures are designed to bring the humanities into wider discussion\, and require no prior knowledge of philosophy or any other discipline.</p>\n<p><strong>The 2025 Culture and Technology Lecture</strong></p>\n<p>This year&rsquo\;s lecture will be delivered by Mazviita Chirimuuta who is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh. Chirimuuta&rsquo\;s research focuses on the history and philosophy of mind-brain sciences. Her latest book\, The Brain Abstracted: Simplification in the History and Philosophy of Neuroscience\, was awarded the 2024 Nayef Al-Rodhan International Prize in Transdisciplinary Philosophy\, which is administered by the Royal Institute of Philosophy. The prize is awarded to books that &ldquo\;&ldquo\;demonstrate rigorous\, original and high-quality transdisciplinary research\, are accessible and engaging to read\, are original\, innovative\, and impactful\, [and] advance and contribute to the understanding of human behaviour&rdquo\;.</p>
