DESCRIPTION:<p>The Department of Philosophy at the Ca&rsquo\; Foscari University of Venice invites graduate students and philosophers who have defended their PhD within the last two years\, to submit papers on the topic of&nbsp\;<em>truth</em>&nbsp\;for its first graduate conference\, to be held on September 17-19\, 2014.</p>\n<p>Keynote speakers:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Max K&ouml\;lbel (University of Barcelona)</li>\n<li>Paul Horwich (New York University)</li>\n<li>Pascal Engel (University of Geneva)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Papers should be no longer than 4500 words and should include an abstract of no more than 200 words.</p>\n<p>8 submissions will be selected for presentation. Authors will have 45 minutes to present their paper. All talks will be followed by a 15 minute comment and by a 30 minute discussion session.</p>\n<p>Possible topics include\, but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Theories of truth (correspondence\, coherence\, deflationism\, pluralism\, etc.)</li>\n<li>Truth and theories of meaning (e.g. truth-theoretic&nbsp\;<em>vs</em>&nbsp\;use-theoretic approaches)</li>\n<li>Semantic paradoxes (liar\, etc.)</li>\n<li>Relativism about truth</li>\n<li>Anti-realism and truth</li>\n<li>Truth and truthmakers</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Deadline for submissions: 25th of June\, 2014.</p>\n<p>Notification of acceptance: 15th of July\, 2014.</p>\n<p><strong>For further information\, please visit:&nbsp\;</strong>http://venicegradconf.wordpress.com</p>\n<p><strong>Call for commentators</strong></p>\n<p>We also invite graduate students and philosophers who have defended their PhD within the last two years to participate as commentators.
