The aim of this two-day conference is to explore the connections between \;ancient and contemporary \;philosophy of \;mathematics. From Antiquity onwards\, the content and practice of mathematics has undergone deep and unexpected modifications. However\, some of the key philosophical questions raised by mathematics since its very beginning are still very much open: what is mathematics about? is there something special about mathematical truths? how can we get to know mathematics\, and how can it be used to understand and modify the sensible world? The aim of the conference is to use such questions to establish a dialogue between ancient and contemporay reflections. \;Philosophy and mathematics\, because of their very strong claims to permanence\, constitute a privileged place to conduct such transhistorical explorations and evaluate their relevance.
