DESCRIPTION:<p>The&nbsp\;<a>International Association for the Philosophy of Sport</a>&nbsp\;invites the submission of abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 52nd annual&nbsp\;IAPS&nbsp\;meeting on August 26 &ndash\; 30\, 2025&nbsp\;and essays for the&nbsp\;2025&nbsp\;R. Scott Kretchmar Student Essay Award. The conference will be held at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense\, Denmark and will be hosted by Signe H&oslash\;jbjerre Larsen. More information about the conference location can be found here: <a href="https://event.sdu.dk/iaps2025/conference">https://event.sdu.dk/iaps2025/conference</a>. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Abstracts are welcome on any area of philosophy of sport (broadly construed)\, including metaphysics\, epistemology\, aesthetics\, and ethics\, and from any theoretical approach\, including analytic philosophy and critical theory. While&nbsp\;IAPS&nbsp\;recognizes\, values\, and encourages interdisciplinary approaches and methodologies\, acceptance is contingent on the philosophical content of the project. Emerging scholars are encouraged to submit works in progress. You may also submit suggestions for roundtable discussions or workshops.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The deadline for abstract submission is&nbsp\;<strong>April 20\, 2025</strong>. Scott Kretchmar Student Essay Award</em></strong></p>\n<p>IAPS is proud to invite submissions for the R. Scott Kretchmar Student Essay Award. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Interested undergraduate and graduate students should submit both an abstract to IAPS 2025 and submit a full paper (2800-3000 words) to the student essay submission site by April 1\, 2025.</p>\n<p>Students can also apply for a <a href="https://iaps.net/conference/iaps-student-travel-award-application/">student travel award</a> which is not connected to the Kretchmar essay prize. The winner of the essay award is also eligible to receive a student travel award.</p>\n<p>A separate announcement about this award is posted at the&nbsp\;<a target="_blank">IAPS website</a>&nbsp\;(<a target="_blank">http://iaps.net/conference/r-scott-kretchmar-student-essay-award/</a>).</p>\n<p>The selected winner shall present their paper and receive the award at the annual IAPS conference. Previous winners are not eligible to receive this award.</p>\n<p><strong><em>Conference Requirements</em></strong></p>\n<p>All conference presenters shall register for and attend the conference to have their paper included on the conference program. Presenters must also be members of IAPS (either student or full). New members may register for IAPS membership at the following&nbsp\;<a target="_blank">www.iaps.net/join-iaps/</a></p>\n<p><strong><em>Abstract Guidelines</em></strong></p>\n<p>IAPS will be using the Cvent conference management system. Submitted abstracts should be 300-500 words long\, in English\, and must be received by April 1\, 2025. Abstracts MUST include the following:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Author(s) names:</li>\n<li>Institutional Affiliations (if any):</li>\n<li>Title:</li>\n<li>Abstract:</li>\n<li>Key words (three to five)</li>\n<li>At least three references to relevant scholarly publications that contextualize the topic</li>\n</ul>
