DESCRIPTION:
What is it to manifest a virtue or a vice? Action and belief from these traits are of central importance to virtue ethics and virtue epistemology\, but both the manifestation relation and its relata can be perplexing. This workshop aims to bring together philosophers addressing questions like the following: How is manifestation related to causation\, motivation\, or explanation? How is manifesting a virtue different from manifesting an ability\, skill\, or disposition? What does any of this mean for discussions of responsibility\, rationality\, or knowledge? And what are the important symmetries and asymmetries between manifestations of moral virtues and manifestations of intellectual virtues?&nbsp\;
\n
See the attached workshop scheduled for more detailed timing information.
\n
Funding is provided by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft\, through the grant "Epistemische Kompetenz: Entwurf einer Neuen Tugenderkenntnistheorie."
