DESCRIPTION:<p>We are pleased to announce a&nbsp\;<strong>Call for Abstracts</strong>&nbsp\;for the upcoming workshop&nbsp\;<em>The Metaphysics of Cosmology</em>\, to be held&nbsp\;<strong>September 10&ndash\;12\, 2025</strong>\, at the&nbsp\;<strong>Institute of Philosophy\, Universit&agrave\; della Svizzera italiana (USI)</strong>&nbsp\;in Lugano\, Switzerland.</p>\n<p>The workshop will explore metaphysical questions arising from contemporary physical theories of cosmology and spacetime\, with particular focus on the nature of spacetime and the interrelationship between space\, time\, and spacetime.</p>\n<p><strong>Confirmed speakers include:</strong><strong></strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>James Read</li>\n<li>Oliver Pooley</li>\n<li>James Owen Weatherall</li>\n<li>Karim Thebault</li>\n<li>Silvia de Bianchi</li>\n<li>Henrique Gomes</li>\n<li>Cody Gilmore</li>\n<li>Eleanor March</li>\n<li>Antonis Antoniou</li>\n<li>Nicola Bamonti</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We invite submissions of abstracts (max.&nbsp\;<strong>500 words</strong>) for presentations on topics related to the workshop. We especially encourage submissions on the following topics:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Time in cosmology (e.g. cosmic time\, absolute time in cosmological models)</li>\n<li>Metaphysical issues about spacetime</li>\n<li>Dynamical and geometrical approaches to relativity theory</li>\n<li>Shape dynamics</li>\n<li>3+1 and Hamiltonian approaches to general relativity</li>\n<li>The unification of space and time in special and general relativity</li>\n<li>Interpretations of special relativity and Lorentz transformations (e.g. fragmentalism)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>To submit:</strong>&nbsp\;Please send your abstract to&nbsp\;<a href="mailto:lorenzo.lorenzetti@usi.ch">lorenzo.lorenzetti@usi.ch</a>&nbsp\;by&nbsp\;<strong>June 14\, 2025</strong>&nbsp\;<u><em>(DEADLINE EXTENDED)</em></u></p>\n<p>We expect to select&nbsp\;<strong>one contributed speaker</strong>. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered.
