DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>CALL FOR POSTERS</strong></p>\n<p><em>&nbsp\;</em></p>\n<p><em>Neuro-Interventions and the Law: Regulating Human Mental Capacity</em></p>\n<p>September 12-14\, 2014</p>\n<p>Georgia State University\, Atlanta\, GA</p>\n<p>Hosted by <a  href="http://www.gsu.edu"  target="_blank">Georgia State University</a> and the <a  href="http://atlneuroethics.org"  target="_blank">Atlanta Neuroethics Consortium</a></p>\n<p>Keynotes: Nita Farahany (Duke University)\, Stephen Morse (University of Pennsylvania)</p>\n<p>The primary theme of this conference will focus on ethical and regulatory dilemmas that arise from the use of direct brain interventions.&nbsp\; Some questions that will be addressed include: Can neuro-interventions (pills\, procedures\, etc.) be used to restore or limit a person&rsquo\;s mental capacities?&nbsp\; Can neuro-interventions be used to <em>enhance</em> a normal person&rsquo\;s mental capacities? Should the criminal justice system use neuro-interventions to alter a person&rsquo\;s mental capacities? If so\, how should the use of such neuro-interventions be regulated?&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>A special student poster session and reception will be held the evening of September 12\, 2014.&nbsp\; We invite students to submit an abstract\, maximum 750 words\, for poster presentation.&nbsp\; In keeping with the interdisciplinary aim of the conference\, we invite proposals from students in law\, neuroscience\, psychology\, philosophy\, policy and other related disciplines.&nbsp\; Please consider submitting an abstract even if you are unsure if your proposal fits within the bounds of the conference themes.&nbsp\; Submissions should be emailed in PDF format to <strong><a  href="mailto:conference@atlneuroethics.org"  target="_blank">conference@atlneuroethics.org</a></strong> by <strong>Friday\, June 20\, 2014</strong>.&nbsp\; Applicants will be notified by July 14\, 2014 whether their abstract has been accepted.&nbsp\; Please visit <strong><a  href="http://atlneuroethics.org"  target="_blank">http://atlneuroethics.org</a></strong> for more information on conference themes\, headlined speakers and registration.&nbsp\;</p>
