Contrary to dominant definitions of mimesis restricted to a realistic representation of nature\, Lawtoo argues that the all too human ability to imitate was central to the birth of philosophy\,&nbsp\; goes beyond nature and culture\, and anticipates contemporary concerns with plasticity and performativity. Critical engagements from Plato to Nietzsche\, Malabou to Butler will help foreground the performativity of homo mimeticus.
