DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for abstracts</strong></p>\n\n<p><br> <br> We invite submissions of abstracts for participation at an upcoming conference on <strong>Interventionism and Non-Causal Dependence</strong> </p>\n\n<p>to take place on </p>\n\n<p><strong>March 12-13\, 2026 </strong></p>\n\n<p>at IHPST (Universit&eacute\; Paris 1 Panth&eacute\;on-Sorbonne) in Paris.</p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop is co-sponsored by Universit&eacute\; Paris 1 Panth&eacute\;on Sorbonne (HIPHIMO and IHPST) and Universit&eacute\; Bordeaux Montaigne (SPH). The organizers are Max Kistler (HIPHIMO\, Universit&eacute\; Paris 1 Panth&eacute\;on Sorbonne) and Thomas Blanchard (SPH\, Universit&eacute\; Bordeaux Montaigne).<br> The workshop aims to address the status of non-causal dependence relationships within interventionism\, as well as related open questions and issues concerning interventionism that are currently the focus of intense debate. Key questions include whether and how to extend interventionism to account for metaphysical dependence\, whether interventionism can adequately distinguish between causal and non-causal association laws\, and how to conceptualize interventions in contexts involving metaphysically and conceptually related variables. <br> <br> Confirmed speakers at the workshop are: </p>\n\n<p>Michael Baumgartner (University of Bergen)\, </p>\n\n<p>Lorenzo Casini (University of Bologna)\, </p>\n\n<p>Jennifer McDonald (Columbia University)\, </p>\n\n<p>Alexander Gebharter (Marche Polytechnic University)\, </p>\n\n<p>Vera Hoffmann-Kolss (University of Bern)\, </p>\n\n<p>Thomas Kr&ouml\;del (University of Hamburg)\, and </p>\n\n<p>James Woodward (University of Pittsburgh). <br> <br> Abstracts should be up to 1500 words\, suitable for a 45-minute talk followed by 30 minutes of Q&amp\;A. <br> <br> The deadline for submissions is January 10\, 2026.
