DESCRIPTION:<p>Philosophy at Southampton will host the first workshop of the AHRC-funded &lsquo\;Normativity: Epistemic and Practical&rsquo\; project on Friday the 13th of June.</p>\n<p>The workshop will focus on the issues of whether/how practical considerations bear on what one ought to believe\, and whether/how epistemic considerations bear on how one ought to act.</p>\n<p>Questions include\, though are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do the sorts of considerations which provide reasons for action also provide reasons for belief?</li>\n<li>Does the practical importance of what you believe bear on what you should or may believe?&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Is it permissible to have a belief that one ought not to act on?</li>\n<li>Does what one ought to do depend on the facts of one&rsquo\;s situation or on the evidence?</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Speakers</p>\n<p>Maria Alvarez (KCL)</p>\n<p>Matthew McGrath (Missouri)</p>\n<p>Baron Reed (Northwestern)</p>\n<p>Jonathan Way and Daniel Whiting (Southampton)</p>\n<p>REGISTRATION</p>\n<p>A limited number of places are available at this workshop.
