Both linguists and philosophers have been developing formal frameworks to model the relationship between contextual elements and such referential mechanisms. Lately\, attention has been driven to the possibility of applying formal modeling also to the study of the expressive aspects of linguistic meaning. The aim of &ldquo\;Names\, Demonstratives\, and Expressives&rdquo\; is to attract scholars interested in the interface between those two aspects\, from the perspective of different fields &mdash\;&nbsp\;such as linguistics\, philosophy\, psychology and logics &mdash\; and to facilitate the interaction among them.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Themes and questions</strong>:</p>\n<p>&mdash\; Expressive mechanism in semantics and pragmatics</p>\n<p>&mdash\; Colouring and non truth-conditional aspects of meaning</p>\n<p>&mdash\; Slurs and pejorative speech</p>\n<p>&mdash\; Nicknames and attributive uses of names</p>\n<p>&mdash\; Politically Correct and censorship&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>&mdash\; Non-literal uses of language</p>\n<p><strong><br></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Submission</strong></p>\n<p>A short abstract of&nbsp\;<u>300 words</u>\, and a long abstract of&nbsp\;<u>no more than 2000 car.</u>&nbsp\;must be submitted to&nbsp\;<a target="_blank">giuliano.torrengo@unimi.it</a>&nbsp\;with object &ldquo\;SUBMISSION GARGNANO EXPRESSIVES CONFERENCE&rdquo\;. The abstracts have to be prepared for blind referee and accompanied by a cover sheet with title of the submitted paper\, name\, affiliation\, and contact detail of the author.</p>\n<p><strong>Deadline&nbsp\;</strong>for submission is&nbsp\;<strong>27 April</strong>.&nbsp\;Notification will be sent by 31 May.</p>\n&nbsp\;\n<p>Accepted contributors will be granted accommodation in Palazzo Feltrinelli (the conference venue) at a fee of around &euro\;210 (lunches and dinner included).</p>\n<p>If you want to attend the conference\, please send&nbsp\;<a target="_blank">giuliano.torrengo@unimi.it</a>&nbsp\;a mail.
