Themes for submission to this special issue include\, but are not limited to\, the following questions:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>When does consciousness emerge in human development?</li>\n<li>What do theories of consciousness predict about infants? &nbsp\;&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>What evidence helps us detect consciousness in infants?&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>What are the sufficient and necessary conditions for infant consciousness?&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Is there a precise border for infant consciousness or a vague border?</li>\n<li>What is the best methodology to investigate consciousness in infants?</li>\n<li>Are fetuses conscious?</li>\n<li>How do various kinds of consciousness develop?</li>\n<li>How can we characterize the experience of being an infant? &nbsp\;</li>\n<li>What is the nature of early stages of consciousness?</li>\n<li>What are the contents of a newborn baby&rsquo\;s consciousness?</li>\n<li>What are the moral implications of the emergence of consciousness?</li>\n<li>When do infants first acquire knowledge about their conscious experience?</li>\n<li>Can insights from other areas\, e.g.\, animal research and artificial intelligence\, help us to make progress in infant consciousness?&nbsp\;</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Deadlines and Schedule:</p>\n<p><strong>Manuscript Submission Period: July 1st &ndash\; November 30th\, 2025</strong></p>\n<p>Estimated Publication Date: 3rd quarter of 2026.</p>
