DESCRIPTION:<p>Concerned Philosophers for Peace (CPP) is pleased to announce a call for abstracts for our group session(s) at the American Philosophical Association&rsquo\;s Central Division Conference in <strong>Chicago\, IL</strong> on <strong>February 18&ndash\;21\, 2026. </strong>We welcome any submission related to the CPP&rsquo\;s mission of analyzing the causes of violence and prospects for peace. We are\, however\, especially interested in papers that deal with:</p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp\;Peace and Justice in the Age of Algorithms.</strong></p>\n<p>We are interested in papers that address any aspect of the relationship between algorithms and peace or justice. Potential topics include but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ethics of particular applications of algorithms\, such as in weapon systems\, the criminal justice system\, or financial institutions</li>\n<li>The role of algorithms in peace and justice activism\, such as whether activists should use algorithms or algorithmically mediated systems (e.g.\, social media) as part of their advocacy</li>\n<li>Whether our concepts of justice or peace can be encoded into algorithms</li>\n<li>How algorithms\, algorithmically mediated systems\, or algorithmic decision makers should reframe our concepts of justice or peace.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Please submit an abstract of no more than <strong>500 words</strong> (prepared for blind review) along with a CV to Charles Freiberg at <a href="mailto:charles.freiberg@ucf.edu">charles.freiberg@ucf.edu</a>. Please write &ldquo\;<strong>APA 2026 submission</strong>&rdquo\; in the subject line. Submissions are due by <strong>August 25\, 2025</strong>.
