Theory and Applications of Grounding (OUP 2023) develops a theory of grounding that articulates the prominent philosophical view that reality is structured in layers\, with higher-level phenomena depending on and being determined by more fundamental ones.&nbsp\;
\n
We welcome papers that engage critically and constructively with the arguments and themes of the book.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n
https://academic.oup.com/book/45749&nbsp\;
\n
Topics may include\, but are not limited to:&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
Grounding and Fundamentality&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
The Relata of Grounding&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
What Grounds the Grounding Facts&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Grounding and Reduction&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Grounding and Causality&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Grounding and Multiple Realizability&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Metaphysical Laws&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Truth and Grounding&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
The Connection Problem&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
Contributions should aim to engage directly with the content and arguments of Fundamental Things\, ideally fostering a dialogue with its author and its broader philosophical implications.The symposium-formally known as a Focus-will consist of:&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
a short\, two-page pr&eacute\;cis of deRosset&rsquo\;s book written by the author\;&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
a number of contributors&rsquo\; papers engaging with its themes\;&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
a collective response by deRosset addressing the contributors&rsquo\; papers.&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
Submission Guidelines&nbsp\;
\n
We are looking for contributions of approximately 8\,000 words (including references).
