DESCRIPTION:<p>What medical opportunities and societal challenges are associated with genomic newborn screening?</p>\n<p>On July 18\, 2025\, <strong>NEW_LIVES </strong>is cordially inviting participants to a conference in Heidelberg. At the center of the event will be the presentation and discussion of the multi-dimensional framework for an appropriate genomic newborn screening program from an ethical\, legal and social (ELSI) as well as medical perspective that was developed in the project.</p>\n<p>The program will include contributions from experts in <strong>medical ethics</strong>\, <strong>law</strong>\, <strong>medical psychology</strong>\, <strong>human genetics</strong>\, <strong>paediatrics </strong>as well as <strong>patient representatives</strong>.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Beside specialists from related fields\, the event is aimed at the public\, media\, and representatives from society and politics.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Location</strong>: Marsilius Kolleg\, Im Neuenheimer Feld 130.1\, 69120 Heidelberg (Germany)&nbsp\;<br><strong>Date</strong>: 18.07.2025&nbsp\;</p>\n<ul>\n<li>11 a.m. - 5 p.m. &ndash\; symposium</li>\n<li>6 p.m. &ndash\; panel discussion: NEW_LIVES recommendations and next steps for genomic newborn screening</li>\n</ul>\n<p>(A detailed program will be made available to paricipants.
