DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for Papers: Special Issue on &ldquo\;Ethics of Artificial Intelligence&rdquo\;</strong><br><em>S&iacute\;ntese &ndash\; Revista de Filosofia (FAJE)</em></p>\n<p>The editorial board of <em>S&iacute\;ntese &ndash\; Revista de Filosofia</em>\, published by the Department of Philosophy at the Faculdade Jesu&iacute\;ta de Filosofia e Teologia (FAJE)\, invites submissions for a <strong>special issue on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI)</strong>.</p>\n<p>This issue aims to explore the philosophical\, ethical\, and societal challenges posed by AI and its rapid development. We welcome <strong>original and unpublished</strong> papers from scholars holding a doctoral degree. Postgraduate students may submit if co-authored with a PhD holder.</p>\nSuggested Topics:\n<p>We invite contributions addressing\, but not limited to\, the following themes:</p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Moral status of AI:</strong> Can AI possess moral agency or personhood?</li>\n<li><strong>AI and responsibility:</strong> Who is accountable for AI-driven decisions?</li>\n<li><strong>Algorithmic bias and justice:</strong> Ethical implications of biased AI systems.</li>\n<li><strong>AI and human dignity:</strong> How AI impacts autonomy\, privacy\, and rights.</li>\n<li><strong>Ethics of AI in warfare and surveillance:</strong> Moral concerns in military and security applications.</li>\n<li><strong>The role of AI in democratic societies:</strong> How AI influences political decision-making and public discourse.</li>\n<li><strong>AI and employment:</strong> Ethical challenges of automation and job displacement.</li>\n<li><strong>Ethical frameworks for AI governance:</strong> Comparing deontological\, utilitarian\, and virtue ethics perspectives.</li>\n<li><strong>AI and the environment:</strong> Environmental impact of AI\, energy consumption\, and digital sustainability.</li>\n<li><strong>AI and global justice:</strong> Technological inequalities\, impacts on the Global South\, and equitable access to innovation.</li>\n<li><strong>AI and digital privacy:</strong> Surveillance risks\, data protection\, and ethical implications for fundamental rights.</li>\n<li><strong>Theological and religious perspectives on AI ethics.</strong></li>\n</ul>\nSubmission Guidelines:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Languages:</strong> Portuguese\, English\, Spanish\, French\, or Italian.</li>\n<li><strong>Length:</strong> Up to 70\,000 characters\, including spaces (approximately 18 pages).</li>\n<li><strong>Format:</strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft Word file.</li>\n<li>Times New Roman\, size 12\, single-spaced.</li>\n<li>No indentation\, 6 pt spacing between paragraphs.</li>\n<li>Margins: Left 3 cm\, Top 3 cm\, Right 2 cm\, Bottom 2 cm.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><strong>Structure:</strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Title and subtitle in uppercase and bold\, followed by English translation (lowercase\, italicized).</li>\n<li>Author&rsquo\;s name with a footnote (*) containing academic degree\, institutional affiliation\, and contact email.</li>\n<li>Abstract (100-150 words) in the article&rsquo\;s language and in English.</li>\n<li>Three to five keywords.</li>\n<li>Numbered sections (e.g.\, 1\; 1.1\; 1.2\; 1.2.1).</li>\n<li>Final considerations or conclusion.</li>\n<li>Citations following ABNT standards (basically the same as Chigago Manual<br>of Style - Author-date system)</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\nImportant Dates:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Submission Deadline:</strong> September\, 30</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Manuscripts can be submitted through our <strong>online system</strong> or sent to editor.sintese@faje.asav.org.br</p>\n<p>Detailed guidelines and policies are available on our website.</p>\n<p>All submissions will undergo a <strong>double-blind peer review</strong> process.</p>\n<p>For inquiries\, please contact the editorial team at <strong>editor.sintese@faje.asav.org.br</strong>.</p>\n<p>We look forward to your contributions to this timely and important discussion!</p>\n
