DESCRIPTION:<p>CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:</p>\n<p>5th Central European Graduate Conference in Ancient Philosophy</p>\n<p>8&ndash\;10 October 2026\, University of Vienna</p>\n<p>The 5th Central European Graduate Conference in Ancient Philosophy\, hosted by the University of</p>\n<p>Vienna\, continues a series of earlier conferences that took place at different universities of the CENTRAL-</p>\n<p>Network (https://www.central-network.eu/who-we-are/). The aim of the conference is to bring together graduate</p>\n<p>students based in Central Europe who are working on ancient Greco-Roman philosophy and/or its reception in</p>\n<p>the Arabic tradition. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work and to receive a response from</p>\n<p>an early-career or senior scholar working on related topics. Two keynote speakers will enrich the program by</p>\n<p>presenting their current research:</p>\n<p> Prof. Katerina Ierodiakonou (University of Geneva)</p>\n<p> Dr. Robert Roreitner (Charles University\, Prague)</p>\n<p>We invite submissions from PhD students and early-career researchers (within two years of completing their</p>\n<p>degree) in Philosophy\, Classics\, and/or Arabic Studies. Applicants from all countries are welcome\, though</p>\n<p>financial support may be limited to students from CENTRAL-Network universities (Charles University Prague\,</p>\n<p>Humboldt University Berlin\, ELTE Budapest\, University of Vienna\, University of Warsaw).</p>\n<p>Submission guidelines</p>\n<p> Abstracts should be 500&ndash\;1000 words in length\, with the central thesis presented in the first paragraph.</p>\n<p> Please prepare your abstract as a PDF for anonymous review.</p>\n<p> In the accompanying email\, include:</p>\n<p>o full name</p>\n<p>o institution</p>\n<p>o year of study.</p>\n<p>Abstracts should be submitted by 15 November 2025 to cegcap5vienna@gmail.com.</p>\n<p>Applicants will be notified of the decision by 31 December 2025. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a</p>\n<p>full paper by 27 August 2026\, and to prepare a 30-minute presentation.</p>\n<p>Selection will be based primarily on the quality of the abstracts\, with attention to diversity factors. We</p>\n<p>particularly encourage applications from members of groups underrepresented in philosophy and related</p>\n<p>disciplines.
