DESCRIPTION:
How can we systematically integrate texts by historical women philosophers into university teaching? This question will be addressed in a full-day workshop as part of the GAP.12 Congress in D&uuml\;sseldorf. We will present innovative teaching formats and materials that aim at increasing the visibility of women in philosophy. These include information materials created by the BMFTR joint project\, a reader project with texts by early modern female philosophers translated into German for the first time as well as a special issue of the&nbsp\;British Journal for the History of Philosophy&nbsp\;on &ldquo\;How To Teach Historical Women Philosophers.&rdquo\;
\n
Two keynote talks by Lisa Shapiro (McGill University) and Frederique Janssen-Lauret (University of Manchester) will develop concrete perspectives for how to better integrate women philosophers into our academic teaching practice.
\n
A plenary discussion at the end of the day will give participants the opportunity to reflect on the potentials and challenges for integrating historical women philosophers into academic teaching.
\n
Program:
\n
Attention: changed start time!
\n
The first part of the conference (9:45-11:00) will be in German\, the second (11:00-17:30) in English.
\n
09:45-10:00 Welcome
\n
10:00-11:00 Presentation of information materials (including discussion) IN GERMAN
\n
11:00-11:30 Coffee break
\n
11:30-13:00 Presentation of reader project and&nbsp\;BJHP&nbsp\;special issue (including discussion)
\n
13:00-14:00 Lunch break
\n
14:00-15:00 Keynote: Lisa Shapiro (McGill) &ldquo\;Teaching Philosophy of Mind&nbsp\;as&nbsp\;Philosophy of Education: Introducing 17th Century Women into History of Philosophy&rdquo\;
\n
15:00-15:30 Coffee break
\n
15:30-16:30 Keynote: Frederique Janssen-Lauret&nbsp\;(Manchester) &ldquo\;Teaching Women into the&nbsp\;History of Early Analytic Philosophy&rdquo\;
\n
16:30-17:30 Plenary discussion
\n
Organizers:&nbsp\;Michaela Rehm\, Ariane Schneck\, Eva Weber-Guskar\, Sibylle Schmidt
\n
Further information on the GAP congress and registration&nbsp\;at&nbsp\;https://gap12.de
\n
It is possible to join via Zoom.&nbsp\;To register for online access\, please contact
\n
&nbsp\;Sibylle.Schmidt-v3v@ruhr-uni-bochum.de.&nbsp\;
\n
Learn&nbsp\;more&nbsp\;about&nbsp\;the&nbsp\;project:&nbsp\;www.uni-goettingen.de/bildersturm
\n
https://www.uni-goettingen.de/bildersturm
