DESCRIPTION:
What does a post-growth society look like? With economist Tim Jackson and philosopher Catarina Moiteiro das Neves.
\n
Under capitalism\, we have learned that more is always better: more innovation\, more consumption\, more wealth. But we can't keep growing forever\, according to economist Tim Jackson (University of Surrey). He advocates for a post-growth society\, where economic growth is no longer the leading principle. But how can we build an economy that prioritises well-being instead of wealth? And if we can no longer increase our planet's limited resources\, what else should we strive for?
\n
Jackson's reflections are more urgent than ever in a time of climate change\, inequality and political unrest. What if the key to durable prosperity is not endless expansion\, but knowing when to stop? Jackson is joined by philosopher Catarina Moiteiro das Neves (UU)\, who researches alternative economic systems.
\n
This is part of a series on alternative visions for neoliberal capitalism\; a partnership between the Visions for the Future Project and Studium Generale.
\n
https://visions-for-the-future.sites.uu.nl/
\n
https://www.sg.uu.nl/
