DESCRIPTION:<p>We invite scholars to explore the fundamental question: Why and where did logic first appear?</p>\n<p>This workshop seeks to investigate the diverse origins and early developments of logic across different philosophical and cultural traditions\, with special attention to both Eastern and Western perspectives. We welcome proposals on any aspect related to the origins of logic. Topics may include\, but are not restricted to\, the following questions:</p>\n<p>History of ancient logic</p>\n<p>History of Indian logic</p>\n<p>History of Chinese logic</p>\n<p>Mathematical sciences\, language\, dialectics\, and rhetoric and the origins of logic</p>\n<p>Philosophy of logic</p>\n<p>The rise of the concept of truth in Western and non-Western logic</p>\n<p>The shaping of algorithmic reasoning vs. reasoning from assumptions (axiomatic).</p>\n<p>Submit a one page&nbsp\; abstract by October 15\,&nbsp\; 2025 to andrew.schumannn@gmail.com and i.vandoulakis@gmail.com</p>\n<p>Duration of contributing talks is 30mn including discussion. There will be a round table at the end of the workshop with the participation of all the speakers.</p>\n<p>Accepted contributors will be invited to submit a full paper for inclusion in a volume on The Origin of Logic\, to be edited by the organizers following the workshop.</p>
