DESCRIPTION:<p>The Prindle Institute for Ethics at DePauw University is thrilled to host the fourth annual Midwest Ethics Symposium on the theme of Technology and Well-Being\, April 7-8\, 2026. This year&rsquo\;s symposium will bring together academics\, professionals\, and students to think about the ethical implications of consumer technologies and\, especially\, how these technologies affect our overall quality of life.</p>\n\n<p>We welcome the submission of extended abstracts (750-1000 words) on any topic related to this theme. Some important sub-themes include: &nbsp\;</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social media\, identity and community</li>\n<li>AI usage and intellectual development</li>\n<li>The socio-political consequences of digital information access (e.g.\, echo chambers\, algorithmic feeds)&nbsp\;</li>\n<li>Digital technology applied to health and wellness (e.g.\, fitness trackers)</li>\n<li>The effects of digital technology on attention</li>\n<li>Simulated digital persons as companions</li>\n<li>AI and therapy (medical and mental)</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>Extended abstracts should be prepared for anonymous review and submitted by January 11\, 2026. &nbsp\; Stipends to help offset travel and lodging expenses associated with the symposium are available for presenters.
