DESCRIPTION:
Adam Ferguson's work has long been of interest to scholars in politics\, history\, social theory and the history of ideas\, but his writing has not received the philosophical attention given to Hume\, Reid or Smith. Do Ferguson's works contain ideas\, arguments or lines of though--e.g.\, moral\, social\, political\, religious\, or epistemic--that might be appropriated by or related to contemporary philosophical thought? Does Ferguson set forth any original contributions to philosophy? Or should we engage his works not in terms of philosophy but in light of their cultural\, historical or political contexts?

Correspondence should be directed to: Guest Editor Eugene Heath\, Department of Philosophy\, State University of New York at New Paltz (heathe@newpaltz.edu).

Deadline for submission: March 1st 2012. Submissions should be prepared for blind review and sent by email attachment to&nbsp\;jsp@ptsem.edu.
