DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Short Course in Greece on the History and Philosophy of the Olympic Games (Mar. 30 &ndash\; Apr. 5\, 2026)&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>The British School at Athens is delighted to offer the second edition of a week-long residential course for postgraduate students and professionals keen to understand the ancient roots of the modern Olympic Games. Directed by Georgios Mouratidis (Assistant Director of the BSA)\, and Heather Reid (Exedra Mediterranean Center)\, the course travels backward through history\, beginning with the modern Olympics of Paris 2024 and Athens 2004\, then &ldquo\;digging down&rdquo\; through the modern Olympic revival of 1896 and the Panathenaic festival of Classical times to arrive at the traditional origin of the Games at Olympia in 776 BCE. The course will take place in Athens\, Nemea\, and Ancient Olympia between March 30 and April 5\, 2026\; some bursaries are available. More information and the registration form can befound here.
