DESCRIPTION:<p>The journal Sport\, Ethics and Philosophy invites proposals for Open Peer Commentaries (OPCs) on the recently published target article\, &lsquo\;Sport structured brain trauma is child abuse&rsquo\; by Anderson\, Turner\, Hardwicke &amp\; Parry.&nbsp\;https://doi.org/10.1080/17511321.2023.2284923</p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of open peer commentaries</strong></p>\n<p>The target article/open peer commentary format of Sport\, Ethics and Philosophy offers a forum for focused\, constructive dialogue between the authors of the target article and scholars wishing to engage it critically.</p>\n<p>Open peer commentaries must consistently uphold a tone of respect and collegiality\, focusing on one or more of the following goals:</p>\n<p>Offer a substantive and constructive analysis of the authors&rsquo\; arguments-commentaries that consist solely of or emphasize negative criticism will receive less consideration.</p>\n<p>Interpret and\, if appropriate\, extend or refine key concepts.</p>\n<p>Supply complementary or supplementary material (e.g.\, schematic figures or illustrative examples) that deepens the discussion.</p>\n<p><strong>Guidelines</strong></p>\n<p>Length: 500-1\,500 words (inclusive of notes).</p>\n<p>References: Maximum of 10\, formatted according to Sport\, Ethics and Philosophy style. Note: Authors submitting shorter commentaries (~500 words) may be required to reduce the number of references to reflect the length and scope of the piece.</p>\n<p>Proposal requirement: Interested commentators must first submit a short proposal (150-250 words) outlining the main thesis\, intended structure\, and 3-4 key sources\, accompanied by a brief bio (80&ndash\;100 words).</p>\n<p><strong>Submission Instructions</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Submission process</strong></p>\n<p>Proposals must be emailed to Jesus Ilundain-Agurruza (jilunda@linfield.edu) and Francisco Javier Lopez Frias (javi.lopezfrias@usu.edu).</p>\n<p>Approval of a proposal constitutes an invitation to submit a full commentary but is not a guarantee of publication.</p>\n<p>Final commentaries must be submitted via the ScholarOne Manuscripts portal under the &ldquo\;OPC&rdquo\; article type.</p>\n<p>Final commentaries will undergo editorial review for appropriateness\, scholarly rigor\, and adherence to journal style.</p>\n<p><strong>Timeline</strong></p>\n<p>15 September 2025 - Call for proposals opens.</p>\n<p>05 January 2025 - Deadline for proposals.</p>\n<p>16 January 2025 - Decisions communicated to proposers.</p>\n<p>31 March 2026 - Deadline for full commentary drafts.</p>\n<p>01 May 2026 - Editorial feedback returned.</p>\n<p>14 August 2026 - Deadline for revised commentaries (final version).</p>\n<p>9 October 2026 - OPCs sent to production for publication.</p>
