DESCRIPTION:
AI and Data Ethics: Philosophy and Pedagogy is a workshop to be held at University of Southern California on March 6-7. The conference has two goals: first\, to bring together scholars interested in the philosophy and ethics of AI\, data\, and related topics in computing and technology ethics. And second\, to share pedagogical ideas\, strategies\, and reports on teaching this material &ndash\; especially to STEM and CS student &ndash\; and in other public\, outward-facing presentations.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
\n

\n
We are proposing an unusual format: each speaker will have 40 minutes to speak\, followed by 30 minutes of Q&amp\;A. That initial 40 minutes should contain both:
\n
\n
\n
some presentation of your own research\, in the usual philosophy-conference way&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n
a presentation of how this material\, or related material\, might be taught in the classroom\, in public-facing ways\, etc.&nbsp\;
\n
\n
\n

\n
The presentation should contain a minimum of 10 minutes of each part\, but the balance of how you use your time will be up to you.&nbsp\;
\n

\n
A major goal of this conference is to really think about\, not only breaking issues in the philosophy and ethics of AI\, data\, etc.\, but to really think together about better ways to teach and present these ideas in engaging\, useful\, and relevant ways to students and professionals in the world of tech and STEM.
