DESCRIPTION:
The University of Pisa Philosophy Department will be hosting a four-day international conference\, focusing on Hegel and the 20th&nbsp\;Century Phenomenological Movement. The event organiser is&nbsp\;Zetesis &ndash\; Progetto di Studi e dialoghi filosofici. The workshop is supported by the Council of Students of the University of Pisa\,&nbsp\; Comune di Pisa\, the PhD School of Philosophy and History of Science (University of Pisa)\, the PhD School of Philosophy (University of Pisa and University of Florence)\, Scuola di Roma-IISF (Istituto Italiano Studi Filosofici) and CEPCAP (Centre d'&eacute\;tudes de la philosophie classique allemande et de sa post&eacute\;rit&eacute\;).
\n
Hegel&rsquo\;s philosophy has been crucial for the 20th&nbsp\;century philosophy. Despite the growing interest that has accompanied the renaissance of Hegel studies among analytic philosophers\,the role that Hegel&rsquo\;s thought has played in contemporary phenomenology remains to be investigated.
\n
The conference aims to explore the philosophical encounters between Hegel and many representative thinkers of the 20th&nbsp\;century such as Husserl\, Heidegger\, Fink\, Sartre\, Merleau-Ponty\, Levinas\, Ricoeur and many others. Topics also cover the criticisms made by relevant authors (i.e. Heidegger\, Adorno\, Derrida\, Sellars) to the phenomenological movement itself.
\n
Discussion will focus on the following key questions: Is it possible to compare Hegel&rsquo\;s idea of philosophy to the views of Husserl\, Heidegger\, Levinas or Derrida? To what extent is the phenomenological method different from dialectical thinking? What is the relationship between Hegel&rsquo\;s ontology and the notions of &ldquo\;appearance&rdquo\; (Erscheinung) developed by Husserl\, Heidegger\, Sartre and Merleau-Ponty? What similarities and differences can be found between Hegel and the Phenomenological Movement with regard to the issue of subjectivity?
\n
Supervisor: Prof. Alfredo Ferrarin.
\n
Coordinators: Danilo Manca\, Dr. Elisa Magr&igrave\;.
\n
Steering Committee: Stella Ammaturo\, Matteo Bensi\, Valeria Bizzari\, Luigi Filieri\, Elisa Magr&igrave\;\, Danilo Manca\, Anna Romani.
