DESCRIPTION:<p>We are pleased to invite participants to a four-day intensive book reading workshop on Antonio Gramsci\, focused on questions of hegemony\, culture\, subaltern politics\, and political struggle. This workshop brings together students\, scholars\, researchers\, activists\, and readers for a sustained and collective engagement with Gramsci&rsquo\;s writings. Written largely under conditions of imprisonment and censorship\, Gramsci&rsquo\;s work challenges us to think about power not only as domination\, but as consent\, culture\, and everyday common sense.</p>\n<p>We welcome participants worldwide. If you wish to present in a language other than English\, please let us (thefootnotesociety@gmail.com) know in advance\, we will do our best to support linguistic plurality.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>A small fee of ₹400 (for Indian nationals) and &pound\;10 (for international participants) will be requested to support the production of the workshop.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Workshop Format&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The workshop is structured as a collaborative close-reading group. Readings will be divided among participants\, with each person responsible for facilitating one session based on an assigned concept\, notebook entry\, or thematic cluster. Each presentation will be followed by an open\, interdisciplinary discussion that examines theoretical tensions\, historical conditions of Gramsci&rsquo\;s writing under fascism\, and the contemporary relevance of his ideas. Particular attention will be paid to connections with postcolonial theory\, cultural studies\, and the Indian context\, including questions of caste\, nationalism\, education\, media\, and civil society.</p>\n<p>In keeping with an experimental and critical pedagogy\, participants are encouraged to bring cultural or political materials that resonate with the day&rsquo\;s readings such as newspaper articles\, political speeches\, school textbooks\, films\, songs\, memes or digital media.
