DESCRIPTION:
Conference topic
\n
Debunking arguments follow the logic of &lsquo\;you just believe that because&hellip\;&rsquo\;. They are meant to undermine the justification of a belief by showing it to have a dubious causal history. While genealogical critiques are often decried as genetic fallacies\, recent years have seen a renaissance of genetic debunking arguments\, particularly in moral philosophy. Proponents of such arguments\, most prominently Richard Joyce\, Peter Singer\, Joshua Greene and Sharon Street\, draw on empirical assumptions about the origins of moral cognition to undermine the justification of certain ethical views.
\n
The aim of the conference is to assess the merits and limitations of moral debunking arguments from various perspectives.
\n\n
Registration
\n
To register for this event\, please e-mail to peter.koenigs@uni-tuebingen.de
