DESCRIPTION:
The workshop explores novel approaches to non-classical conditionals\, examining their formal behavior\, inferential roles\, and methodological foundations. Central issues include the evaluation of conditional systems independently of classical background logic\, the relative merits of semantic versus proof-theoretic criteria\, and the role of inferential adequacy in assessing conditional principles. The workshop also considers how different conditional logics interface with explanation\, causation\, and counterfactual reasoning in scientifically relevant formal contexts.
\n

\n

\n
We welcome contributions addressing (but not limited to) the following questions:
\n
\n
\n
Do conditionals have a single core inferential function\, or are they fundamentally context-sensitive operators?
\n
\n
\n
How should conditionals behave in inconsistent or information-poor settings?
\n
\n
\n
What methodological standards should guide the evaluation of non-classical conditionals:
\n
\n
\n
semantic intuitions\, proof-theoretic virtues\, inferential roles\, or applications in science?
\n
\n
\n
Can disputes about conditionals be resolved without presupposing classical background logic?
\n
\n
\n
How do conditionals interact with explanation\, causation\, and counterfactual reasoning in real scientific practice?
\n
\n
