DESCRIPTION:<p>Thanks to generous funding from the Andrew W.&nbsp\;Mellon&nbsp\;Foundation\, we are organizing the first of two&nbsp\;Mellon&nbsp\;Workshops on Democracy in Buffalo on May 19th and 20th at the Richardson Hotel. &nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>The workshop will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scholars with expertise on democracy\, local politics\, and immigration.&nbsp\; Our speakers include:&nbsp\;Sam Bagg&nbsp\;(Political Science\; USC)\,&nbsp\;&Ccedil\;iğdem &Ccedil\;ıdam&nbsp\;(Political Science\; Union College)\,&nbsp\;Els de Graauw&nbsp\;(International Migration Studies\, Political Science\; Barauch College and CUNY GC)\,&nbsp\;Juman Kim&nbsp\;(Political Science\; Towson)\,&nbsp\;Avia Pasternak&nbsp\;(Philosophy\; UMD)\,&nbsp\;Sarah Song&nbsp\;(Law\, Philosophy\, and Political Science\; Berkeley)\,&nbsp\;Celina Su&nbsp\;(Urban Studies\, Political Science\; CUNY)\, and&nbsp\;Veronica Terriquez&nbsp\;(Chicano/a Studies\,&nbsp\;Central American Studies\, Urban Planning\; UCLA)\, as well as Sadie Dempsey\, Ryan Muldoon\, Alexandra Oprea\, and Daniel Stephens from the University at Buffalo\, Philosophy Department and Philosophy\, Politics\, and Economics (PPE) Program.&nbsp\; </p>\n\n<p>If you have any questions or would like to join us\, please email Alexandra Oprea at aoprea@buffalo.edu. </p>
