DESCRIPTION:<p><u><strong>The 62nd Annual Meeting of the Western Canadian Philosophical Association &amp\; the 10th annual meeting of the Canadian Society for Environmental Philosophy / Soci&eacute\;t&eacute\; canadienne de Philosophie Environnementale</strong></u></p>\n<p><strong>Dates:</strong> Friday\, October 2 to Sunday\, October 4\, 2026</p>\n<p><strong>Location:</strong> University of Regina\, Regina\, Saskatchewan</p>\n<p><strong>Keynote Speakers</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carrie Jenkins\, Professor of Philosophy\, University of British Columbia</li>\n<li>Regina Rini\, Canada Research Chair in Social and Moral Cognition and Associate Professor of Philosophy\, York University</li>\n<li>Blair Stonechild\, Professor of Indigenous Studies\, First Nations University of Canada</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Submission Deadline:</strong> July 31\, 11:59PM\, CST</p>\n<p><strong>Submission Details</strong></p>\n<p>We are pleased to invite submissions to the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Western Canadian Philosophical Association (WCPA) &amp\; the 11th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society for Environmental Philosophy / Soci&eacute\;t&eacute\; canadienne de philosophie environnementale (CSEP/SCPE)\, to be held concurrently from Friday\, October 2 to Sunday\, October 4\, 2026\, at the University of Regina.</p>\n<p>All submissions can be made\, by the deadline\, through EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=wcpaandcsepscpe2026</p>\n<p>Questions can be sent to the address: wcpa2026@protonmail.com</p>\n<p><strong><u>We invite four different types of submission\, from all areas of philosophy:</u></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Full-Paper Submissions</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approx. 3000 words (excluding references and abstract)</li>\n<li>Accompanied by an approx. 150-word abstract and 3-5 keywords indicating area(s) of philosophy and topic</li>\n<li>Prepared for anonymous review</li>\n<li>Suitable for presentation in 20 minutes\, to be followed by commentary and discussion</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Abstract-Only Submissions</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approx. 500 words</li>\n<li>Accompanied by 3-5 keywords indicating area(s) of philosophy and topic</li>\n<li>Prepared for anonymous review</li>\n<li>Suitable for presentation in 15 minutes\, to be followed by discussion but no commentary</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Full-Panel / Symposia Submissions</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 abstracts\, approx. 200-500 words each\, in a single document</li>\n<li>Prepared for anonymous review</li>\n<li>Each suitable for presentation in 15 minutes\, to be followed by overall discussion but no commentary</li>\n<li>Accompanied by the title of the panel and a short description of its area(s) of philosophy and unifying theme/topic</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Author-Meets-Critics </strong><strong>Submissions</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Book title\, author\, and publication status</li>\n<li>A brief description of the book and proposed session\, including the names\, affiliations\, and expected contributions of 2-3 critics</li>\n<li>Statement confirming that the author and all critics will be able to participate in the session\, if accepted</li>\n</ul>\n<p>A submission (of any of the four types above) on an <strong>environmental topic</strong> will be considered for inclusion on both the WCPA program and the CSEP/SCPE program. However\, if you are submitting with the CSEP/SPCE in mind\, please indicate this somewhere prominent in your submission.</p>\n<p>The WCPA and CSEP will each award a <strong>Student Essay Prize</strong>. So\, if you are a student\, please indicate this somewhere prominent in your submission. Only full-paper submissions will be eligible for the WCPA Student Essay Prize\, barring exceptional circumstances.</p>\n<p><strong>Pr&eacute\;sentations en fran&ccedil\;ais. </strong>Le comit&eacute\; organisateur est ouvert &agrave\; la possibilit&eacute\; d&rsquo\;un panel ou d&rsquo\;une session (ou davantage) en fran&ccedil\;ais et a la capacit&eacute\; d&rsquo\;&eacute\;valuer des propositions envoy&eacute\;es en fran&ccedil\;ais. Il esp&egrave\;re ainsi contribuer au renforcement de l&rsquo\;exercice de la philosophie en fran&ccedil\;ais dans l&rsquo\;Ouest canadien et donner la chance aux philosophes qui comprennent le fran&ccedil\;ais mais ne s&rsquo\;en servent pas beaucoup de participer &agrave\; la conf&eacute\;rence dans cette langue.</p>\n<p><strong>Special Workshop: Interconnection in Indigenous Philosophies and the Disciplinary Colonial University. </strong>To begin the conference\, the afternoon of Friday\, October 2 will include a workshop featuring academic researchers and knowledge keepers who work with them. Dr. Blair Stonechild will start the discussion with a first keynote. To continue the discussion over the rest of the conference\, we specifically encourage papers engaging with Indigenous philosophies and Indigenous scholars\, whether they are established\, emerging\, or studying\, and whether they are academic or working in community\, to submit papers to the WCPA.</p>\n<p><strong>Location details. </strong>The conference will take place at the College Avenue campus of the University of Regina\, which offers accessible rooms over two floors\, with a view of Wascana Park. The building is located downtown\, within reasonable walking distance from the hotels\, with ample parking. It is newly renovated to preserve the historical features of the original building and bring it into the 21st century. It features ample space for open or private conversation and hosts wonderful artworks from the President&rsquo\;s Art Collection. More information on hotels will be provided as registration time approaches.</p>
