DESCRIPTION:
Autobiographical Thinking and Psychopathology: Functions\, Features\, and Interventions.
\n
David Hallford (Deakin University)

\n
Abstract:&nbsp\;Autobiographical thinking - the capacity to recall our personal past and imagine our personal future - is fundamental to the human condition. Yet\, in the context of psychopathology\, these processes often become distorted\, biased\, or impaired. This talk will synthesise research demonstrating that abnormalities in autobiographical thinking are a transdiagnostic feature of psychological disorders\, contributing to vulnerability and the persistence of distress. It will also highlight evidence that autobiographical thinking is malleable and can be modified through psychological interventions.&nbsp\;
\n
Bio:&nbsp\;Dr David Hallford is a Clinical Psychologist and a Senior Lecturer at Deakin University where he teaches psychopathology and psychological treatment. He has published over 115 peer-reviewed papers\, including in top journals such as World Psychiatry\, Psychological Bulletin\, and Clinical Psychology Review. David is a National Director of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association\, and specialises in the treatment of emotional\, psychotic and personality-related mental health challenges.&nbsp\;
\n
Zoom Link:&nbsp\;https://deakin.zoom.us/j/84981032099?pwd=BaVpz0O9oaB2xohzT6xZGbQwYAWMBz.1
\n
Meeting ID:&nbsp\;849 8103 2099&nbsp\;// Password:&nbsp\;44330213
\n
This meeting is at 12:30pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) 28 July 2026 [02:30am UTC 28 July 2026]
