This encourages students to write research journals along with the pace of the course and allow more flexibility in terms of developing research interests. The outcome of the course can be more than final assignments. It can also be a collaborative project for publish use —a website/a curatorial project/or a published work with collaborative efforts. Digital humanities are more effective in recent research and the teaching of premodern literature. UCLA launched a mobile app of digital dictionary KuLA that transcribes premodern cursive Japanese handwriting into legible characters. The research tool—geographic information systems—is also adopted by many literary scholars to collaborate with city planners/geographers/cartographers or to adopt an interdisciplinary approach of spatial analysis in literary work. Some co-teaching or co-authorship are done this way. Instructors who are interested in ethics in pedagogy are also learning from scholarship on disability studies.\n\nKeywords\n\npedagogy literary pedagogy comparative pedagogy land-based pedagogy premodern
